Emphasising that Indic tradition was, is and will always relevant to the world, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh sarasanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Friday called upon the Hindu society to arise in unison.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the three-day-long World Hindu Congress, 2014 in New Delhi, Bhagwat said, “The world has always needed Hindu thought or Indic tradition and will always continue to do so. It is the responsibility of Hindus to teach and guide the world.”
Explaining the word ‘Hindu’, the RSS sarasanghchalak said, “Hindu is someone who sees unity in all human diversity.”
Invoking Swami Vivekananda’s message — ‘Arise, awake and not stop till the goal is reached’ — Bhagwat said, “Hindus must get organised. Let’s arise in unison as Hindu society, a society having rich values, a society which depicts those values in its endeavors in all walks of life.”
Mohan Bhagwat said, “Let’s awake to the plight and achievement of the Hindus world over. Let’s extend our helping hand everywhere.”
The RSS chief said, “India had a tradition and task to teach the world. It’s time, the Hindus start works in all walks of life, be it in academia, media, economics or politics.”
In his speech, Bhagwat emphasised that leadership based on Hindu vales and tradition is essential for the world. “Let’s provide the world such leadership. Let’s demonstrate it not as a capable person, but collectively as that of the Hindus,” he said.
Addressing the World Hindu Congress, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama said there is a need to remember the ‘sameness of humanity’ and develop the ‘knowledge of mind’.
VHP patron Ashok Singhal said, “It’s time to create a Hindu mahashakti (super power) in the world. It’s time for an indomitable Hinduism for the welfare of the entire world.”
Referring to Narendra Modi leading a landslide victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Singhal said power had returned to a Hindu swabhimani in Delhi after 800 years.
“Eight hundred years after the power at Delhi went away form Prithviraj Chauhan, it did not come into the hands of a proud Hindu. It has happened after 800 years,” Singhal said.
The theme of World Hindu Congress, organised by World Hindu Foundation, is envisioned on the principle of ‘Sangachchhadhwam Samvadadhwam’ (Step Together, Express Together).
Around 1,500 delegates from over 40 different countries of the world are participating in the event.
A statement by the organisers of the conclave reads:
“The World Hindu Congress aims to take the movement for Hindu solidarity to the next level and this task needs to be undertaken with a single minded focus of rebuilding the spiritual and material heritage of Hindus.”
The three-day conference will see deliberation on several subjects relevant to Hindu society. There is a Hindu Educational Conference on the theme of Creating and Networking Educational Resources for Civilisational Re-emergence. Besides, there will be a Hindu Youth Conference on the theme Together Towards Tomorrow, a Hindu Media Conference on the theme Truth is Supreme and a Hindu Women Conference on the theme of ‘Increasing the Role of Women in Hindu Resurgence’.
The conference delegates include people of accomplishment and achievement, committed to working for Hindu rise and resurgence, and academicians, scientists, educationists, founder of universities, managing trustees, chancellors, vice-chancellors, prominent industrialists, businessmen from diverse industries and business, bankers, economists, business association leaders, parliamentarians, legislators, youth leaders, leading journalists, editors and leaders of Hindu organisations.
