मुख्य रूप से बछ बारस के दिन पुत्रवती स्त्रियाँ व्रत रखती है और गाय  और  बछड़ें की पूजा करती हैं। बछ बारस से एक दिन पहले रात्रि को बछबारस के लिये मूंग, मोठ, चने एवं बाजरा भिगो कर रख दिया जाता है। फिर प्रातः काल स्नानादि के बाद पूजा से पहले उसे कढ़ाई में छोंक कर पका लिया जाता हैं।                                           बछ बारस, पुत्रों की दीघार्यु हेतु विशेष पर्व  क्या होता है बायना, कैसे करते हैं उद्यापन? मातायें तथा महिलाएं करती हैं बछबारस व्रत भाद्रपद माह के कृष्ण पक्ष की द्वादशी तिथि को बछबारस या गोवत्स द्वादशी या वत्स द्वादशी कहा जाता है।  इस दिन पुत्रवती स्त्रियां व्रत रखती हैं और अपने पुत्रों के सुख और दीर्घायु की कामना करती हैं। इस दिन पुत्रों की पसंद के व्यंजन बनाए जाते हैं और उन्हें उपहार भी दिए जाते हैं। कहीं- कहीं माताएं पु़त्रों की नजर भी उतारती हैं। इस दिन स्त्रियां मूंग, मोठ और बाजरा अंकुरित कर गाय के बछड़े को खिलाती हैं। व्रती स्त्रियों को भी आहार मे...
