सवाल वहीं खडा है जहां से प्रारम्भ होता है। काननू तो हजारों सालों से हैं, अंग्रेजों के समय भी कानून खूब सजा सुनाते थे। वर्तमान में सजा सुनाये जानें का प्रतिशत बहुत कम है। क्यों कि भ्रष्ट नौकरशाही,,बयान से मुकर जाना और सत्ता के हस्तक्षेप के चलते अपराधी का लाभ मिलता ही मिलता है। हम जिन्हे तानाशाह देश कहते हैं वे अपराधियों के सजा सुनानें के मामले में बहुत बेहतर हैं। हमारी भ्रष्ट और बेहद कमजोर व्यवस्था के कारण ही अपराध करना एक घंघे के रूप में विकसित हो गया है। कानून का भय ही नहीं रहा । पहले से सही सजा दिलवाते रहते तो आज जो दिन देखनें पड रहे हैं वे आते ही नहीं । एक हत्या में हत्यारे वरी हो गये, किन्तु हत्या हुई है यह तो सत्य है किन्तु उसका हत्यारा कौन यह सब भूल जाते हैं न सरकार और न न्यायालय ! प्रश्न तो यही है कि अपराधी कौन और उसको सजा क्यों नहीं ? सरकारी वकील जब सरकारी पार्टी के कार्यकर्ता होनें के आधार पर नियुक्त होंगे तो अपराधी बरी ही होंगे। कानून में ममता बनर्जी एक के बजाये दो फांसी ही क्यों न लिख दें उससे क्या होता है। सवाल है अपराधी को सजा दिलानें वाले बनुसंधान का और प्रक्रिया का जो अपराधी के पक्ष में ज्यादातर भ्रष्ट हो जाती है।

There is no fear of law. If the right punishment was given earlier, then the days we are seeing today would not have come. The murderers got acquitted in a murder, but it is true that the murder has happened, but who is the murderer, neither the government nor the court forget all this! The question is who is the criminal and why is he not punished? When the government lawyer is appointed on the basis of being a worker of the government party, then the criminals will be acquitted. What does it matter if Mamata Banerjee writes two death sentences instead of one in the law. The question is about the forest department and the process of punishing the criminal, which mostly gets corrupted in favour of the criminal.
